Configuring your device’s security settings ensures that your network is safe from unauthorized access, malicious intents, and any cyber attackers. This article will show you some of the Linksys devices’ best security practices.

Under Router Settings, go to Connectivity.

Under Local Management Access, check the box beside HTTPS.

Changing the router administration password using the Linksys App
Changing the router administration password is highly recommended to keep your network settings secure and protected from unauthorized access. Using the Linksys App, you can set your own router password so that only you will have admin rights to your network. To learn how to do this, follow the steps below.

Step 1:
On your mobile device, tap the Linksys App 
icon.
Step 2:
You will be prompted to provide your Linksys cloud account. Enter the necessary credentials and tap Log in. Or, for local access, you can tap the Log in with Router Password link instead.
Step 3:
Tap the Menu 
icon on the Dashboard.
Step 4:
Tap Router Administration.
Step 5:
Select Change Router Password and Hint and tap the field under Router Password to enter your new personalized password.
QUICK TIP: The password can be 1 to 64 characters composed of numbers and letters. You can also add a hint to help you remember your password.
Step 6:
Make sure to tap Save across the top right-hand side of the screen.
How to check and update the router password using your Linksys cloud account
The router password is an administrator password used when accessing the router’s web-based setup page. The default router password for all Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers is admin. However, it is recommended to personalize your password to ensure that the router is safe from unauthorized access.
NOTES:
The router password is NOT the Wi-Fi password.

Updating the router password through the Linksys cloud account
Step 1:
Access your Linksys cloud account.
Step 2:
Click Connectivity.
Step 3:
Under the Basic tab, click Edit beside Router Password.
Step 4:
Enter your router’s Current password. Then, enter the New password you want for your router and re-enter it in the Confirm new password field.
On some Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers, you only need to enter the New password. Click on the 
icon to view your password.
You can also enter an optional Router password hint.
QUICK TIP: You can use character combinations (including special characters) in creating your router password.
Step 5:
Click the 
button.
Step 6:
On the pop-up box, click Yes. Then click Ok.
Use your new password to access your router’s settings such as the Guest Access and Parental Controls.
It is important to change the basic Wi-Fi settings on your Linksys device in order to establish a unique and secure connection.
Changing the wireless settings of your router using the Linksys App
Configuring your wireless settings is important to ensure that your wireless network is safe from unauthorized access and intrusions. With the Linksys App, changing the wireless settings of your network is now easier and more convenient.
IMPORTANT: Changing your wireless settings may cause your wireless clients to disconnect from the router. Depending on the changes that you’ve made, you may need to reconnect your wireless clients with the new settings.
Step 1:
On a mobile device connected to your existing network, tap the Linksys App 
icon.
Step 2:
You will be prompted to provide your Linksys cloud account. Enter the necessary credentials and tap Log in. Or, for local access, you can tap the Log in with Router Password link instead.
Step 3:
Tap the Menu 
icon.
Step 4:
Tap on Wi-Fi Settings.
NOTE: Options in this section may vary depending on the device you are using. Options like the Smart Connect is only present on some Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router models.
Alternatively, you can also tap on Wi-Fi Network on the Dashboard.

to share your Wi-Fi credentials via Text Message, Email or Copy it to clipboard.
Step 5:
Tap the field you want to change then tap Save once done. Wait for the settings to be saved successfully then reconnect all wireless devices, if necessary.
The Advanced Wi-Fi Settings section on each network band also allows you to configure other settings such as Security Type, Wi-Fi Mode, Channel width, Channel and Broadcast SSID. Each time you make changes, ensure to tap Save for the setting to take effect. Otherwise, tap on Cancel to discontinue the changes. You can also tap the bottom bar to turn off the network band of your choice.
You should now have successfully changed your router’s wireless settings using the Linksys App.
Changing the Wi-Fi settings using the Linksys cloud account
It is important to change the basic Wi-Fi settings on your router in order to establish a unique and secure connection. A protected Wi-Fi prevents unwanted access to personal information.
NOTES:
The steps below will guide you on how to change the Wi-Fi settings of your router.
Step 1:
Access your Linksys cloud account.
Step 2:
Click Wi-Fi Settings on the left navigation pane under Router Settings.
Step 3:
Under the Basic tab, click Edit beside Wi-Fi Settings.
Step 4:
Enter your desired Wi-Fi name and Wi-Fi password in the fields provided.
